Position Yourself As An Expert
Well, this is what my tips are all about today, how to know if the book idea you are planning to write has a chance to stand-out and sell. After all, even if it’s the tiniest of markets it will have to compete for proper attention in this hi-tech world? For your book to be able to compete in a world like ours today, you must target a niche market (people to sell your book to) interested in your book.
There is this other notion that if you get a publisher or an agent or a deal or a contract that your work is done. You don’t have to sell your writing, there’s someone else to do it for you. You can sit back and live the dream that is ‘the writer.’ And, sure there are one or two or three writers out there who have achieved this level. The majority have not. Again it’s the too many writers for the same piece of pie scenario, only this time the pie is the audience.
But. do not pass yourself off as an authority in an area where you have no expert ise! And don’t fool yourself into thinking you are an best college admission essay writing service simply because someone else told you that you are. In business, your reputation with your customers is your primary asset. A sure way to ruin it is to offer bad or bogus advice.
Stick To One Main Area Of Expertise At A Time. One of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to establish themselves as an Expert is to take on too much at once. If a visitor clicks on the widget, they are shown a «The Story Behind the Book» blurb while the sample loads. This is an ideal spot to put a paraphrased differentiation statement. It will prime the reader for the sample. It should be a paraphrased version because the reader may have already read the primary statement on the website before clicking on the Bookbuzzr widget.
Don’t be too modest. You do not have to be the best in the world at something to be an expert – you need to know more or have more skills than the people you are supporting. If you have evidence of this then be prepared to tell people about it – your story is what marks you out as an expert.
Good things do not always come to those who wait. You need to stop waiting for permission and approval. No one is going to come along and deem you the expert or hand you an award. This is something that you must step up and claim.
Writing exercises will help you grow and develop as a writer. Keeping a personal journal or a writing journal is another great way to become a better writer. You can learn, grow and develop your writing skills by practice that comes from writing more.
Whenever you would start to write a book, it needs a core or skeleton where the book would take it shape and body by making an outline. The outline is the blueprint of your book. Expanding the details from your outline, write a brief summary on how each and every chapter will be. This will help you organize your thoughts as well your book.
Make sure the writer adds value to you and your company. Does the writer go above and beyond the call of duty? How can the freelance writer drive web traffic to your website? What can they do to help your business grow? You may want to hire someone who possesses a business background; they have business degrees and experience. Their professional experience will be invaluable to you. It’s a bonus if you find a freelance writer who has a combination of book and street smarts.
IN THE END, knowing the nuts and bolts of becoming a professional writer will do one of two things: make you want to write more or make you want to do something else! Having said all this, being a writer is a wonderful occupation. There is a passion and a power in the craft of sharing words with an audience.
